Dr. Thorsten Weyer
Head of Requirements Engineering

Thorsten Weyer is Head of Requirements Engineering at ‘paluno – The Ruhr Institute for Software Technology’ at University of Duisburg-Essen. Prior to this he was a research associate in the Software Systems Engineering group at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Thorsten Weyer was the coordinator of the project REMsES ‘Guideline for Requirements Engineering for software-intensive embedded systems’ (http://www.remses.org) funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Currently, he is the technical coordinator of the work package on ‘model-based requirements engineering for embedded systems’ within the BMBF Innovation Alliance SPES 2020 ‘Software Platform Embedded Systems’ (http://www.spes2020.de).
He received a Diploma degree in computer science from University of Koblenz and is an experienced consultant and lecturer in the areas requirements engineering, system analysis, anHd business analysis for nearly 15 years now. He receive the doctor’s degree with his dissertation on the identification of defects in requirements specifications against properties of the system context.
